Collector: 2 years ago I submitted here a reframed scan I did from an article about The Smiths published in an obscure French magazine from the early 90’s called: “Moderne”. Check for this post Here. Recently I received an e-mail from a fan of this band asking me for more details about this unknown magazine and this precise publication. So I decided to re-scan and to re-submit this image showing the original photo taken by Gilles Decroix (in the frame) for the cover of The Smiths’ album: “Hatful of hollow”. This is a (not perfect) translation from French you can read as a caption under this photo.
“Another even more surprising story, even intriguing one. The badly reproduced photo used for the Hatful of hollow’s cover isn’t at all to be credited to Paul Slatter, but to Gilles Decroix who never had been contacted by anyone from The Smiths. So we found back this photographer and the original photography and decided to compose this picture, adding the hand in the glove and the flowers in the foreground. So we’re offering to you a real Collector”

“Before Jimi Hendrix introduced himself to the world as the greatest guitarist in music history, Hendrix enlisted with the 101st Airborne Division as an alternative to serving prison time for riding in stolen cars. Discharged in May of 1962 for “behavioral problems”, Hendrix was reportedly caught masturbating in platoon areas and required excessive supervision.
These photographs curated by Stephen O’Connor provide a rare look at Jimi Hendrix during his time in the service.”

It was fifty years ago today that Bob Dylan had his first recording session at Columbia Records. Dylan was backup harmonica for folk singer Caroline Hester — It was shortly after that Dylan was offered his own deal with Columbia.
